US judge sets deadline for Facebook and government’s responses to civil society groups opposing the $5 billion settlement

According to the Wall Street Journal, a judge from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has ordered Facebook and the US government to file written responses by January 24th  to civil society groups, critical of the settlement agreed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Facebook after the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The deal was announced in July 2019 is still under review, as a federal judge is still weighing objections from groups arguing this settlement is inadequate.
