Unleashing E-Commerce for South Asian Integration

The World Bank Group published a report on Unleashing E-Commerce for South Asian Integration that examines how e-commerce can be boosted to deepen intraregional trade in South Asia through investigating the constraints on e-commerce and the ways for e-commerce to cut transaction costs for firms and consumers. It further elaborates on how e-commerce can be enhanced to improve intraregional trade in South Asia. To this aim, it looks at consumers platforms, digital signatures, consumer data protection, regulatory infrastructure, and cybersecurity. The report identifies some recommendations that wary from allowing cross-border payments and streamlining the customs regime to allowing the operation of regional e-commerce platforms and liberalising related cross-border logistics services.
