UN official lauds China’s efforts to ensure affordable Internet access

UN Under-Secretary-General Fabrizio Hochschild has said commended China stating many lessons can be learnt from them in terms of ensuring affordable Internet access. This was contained in a news report on an interview with the UN official in Beijing.

Hochschild highlighted China’s 60% Internet penetration rate as being ahead of all developing countries. He also commended China for having a much lower rate of gender bias in Internet connectivity compared to the world average, making China an example with a very important role to play in global digital co-operation and sustainable development.
