UK and Singapore sign partnership on consumer IoT security

The UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency (CSA) have signed a partnership focused on Internet of things (IoT) security for consumers. According to the agreement, both countries will share and exchange initiatives, approaches, information, and experiences to promote the implementation of good practices based on global IoT industry standards. Both countries recommend that manufacturers implement these following practices such as: (a) halting  default universal password use, (b) standardising vulnerability disclosures across the IoT industry, (c) encouraging manufacturers to routinely develop and deploy software security updates throughout the entire lifetime of IoT devices.
