Spam malware campaign affecting Skype users discovered

A spam malware campaign targeted at Skype users has been discovered by researchers at Malwarebytes. Users receive spam messages on Skype, containing Japansese characters and a bitly link; the link takes them to a compromised domain to download a file pretending to be an image. The file contains malware that may cause users’ devices to join a botnet and be part of cyber-attacks. Most of the affected users seem to be based in India, Japan, and the Philippines.
