Robots deliver digital skills training and promote digital inclusion among senior citizens in Seoul

To prevent older people from being left out as the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the use of digital services, the Seoul Digital Foundation launched a new program to embrace digital inclusion by assisting older people in using digital devices and systems. The program hinges on deploying humanoid robots to help senior citizens become comfortable with using smartphones, online messaging. and other digital services. It will run until the end of January 2021 at 17 welfare facilities for the elderly in five of Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts and will reach around 3000 senior citizens. In total, there will be 300 sessions with up to 10 people per session allowed to abide by health and safety measures.
