Public consultation sought for the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive review.

The Broadband Cost Reduction Directive stewarded by the European Commission is intent on facilitating and encouraging the implementation of high-speed communication networks through deployment cost reductions. Public consultation hopes to collect views and input from stakeholders on the implementation to analyse the past while examining future options. The evidence that the Commission has gathered so far suggests that the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive needs to be evaluated and potentially revised to ensure alignment with recent technological and market developments while playing a role in the ICT sector being in compliance with the European Green Deal. Public consultation runs from December 2nd to March 2nd 2021. Perspectives are welcomed from electronic communication operators, network operators, infrastructure operators along with relevant associations and local authorities, civil society organisations, businesses and experts.
