“Private Internet Access” VPNs no longer blocked in Hong Kong

Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN servers which were reportedly blocked in Hong Kong have now been unblocked. PIA had earlier reported that their VPN servers that allowed people to access the Internet by bypassing restrictions have been blocked in India.  It is reported that protesters in Hong Kong used PIA’s VPN tool to access their social media accounts and other forums while protecting their identities. The development followed recent concerns that ISPs in Hong Kong were being forced to apply Internet restrictions with the Hong Kong ISP Association (HKISPA) issuing an open letter to express their concerns over that move.

The recent update published of the unblock of the PIA VPN has therefore brought some relief to the Internet users in Hong Kong.
