Pakistani court hears petition seeking 5G ban

According to a report, the Sindh High Court (SHC), the highest judicial institution in Pakistan, heard a petition filed by a citizen that argues 5G technology poses health risks and adversely affects the ecosystem, seeking a ban on the technology. The SHC issued a notice to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to submit its response to a petition against the launch of 5G technology in the country. The bench decided that the court will proceed with the case once the telecom regulator files its response to the petition. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haque said during a meeting with Huawei’s Middle East regional head that the country is planning the 5G launch by December 2022.
