Open source software gained new significance in 2015, according to Wired

Looking back at the past twelve months, Wired notes that “2015 was the year open source software gained new significance”, with more and more tech companies and entrepreneurs “freely sharing the code underlying their latest technologies”. According to the magazine, even the most powerful companies, like Apple and Google, now recognize that open source software will accelerate not only the progress of technology in general, but the progress of the companies as well.
