Netherlands and Bulgaria face EC fines for failing to transpose Broadband Cost Directive

The European Commission decided today to file a complaint on Bulgaria and the Netherlands to the Court of Justice of the EU for delay in transposing the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive (Directive 2014/61/EU). The directive aims at more efficient deployment of new physical infrastructure so that the fibre networks can be built at lower cost by co-planning with constructions of other engineering networks like energy, water, and transport.
