Malaysia students lack access to online learning

Malaysia’s Ministry of Education’s nationwide survey showed that out of 900 000 students only 6% and 9% own computers and tablets respectively, and 46% own smartphones. The fact that such devices are often shared among family members and siblings, puts further limits and strain on accessibility to online learning platforms. Bridging digital divide has been the government’s goal since the 1990s yet is now becoming obvious more than ever as schools have been closed due to COVID-19.
