The Journalism Competition and Preservation Act introduced in US Congress, Facebook and Google lobby against

US legislators re-introduced a bill in Congress aiming to help small news organisations to collectively negotiate with tech platform giants, called The Journalism Competition and Preservation Act. Like in other countries previously, the US bill is designed to balance the power of tech platforms and news publishers, as well as to address fair compensation of news publishers.

According to Reuters, Google and Facebook have started lobbying against this legislation via two technology industry trade groups that Facebook and Google belong to — the Computer & Communications Industry Association and NetChoice.
