Johannesburg suffers a ransomware attack

Johannesburg suffered a ransomware attack, which prompted the city to shut down several municipal systems including the City’s website, its e-services platform, and the billing system as a precaution. The ransom note, signed by ‘Shadow Kill Hackers Group’, claims that the hackers ‘compromised all passwords and sensitive data such as finance and personal population information’. The hackers demanded payment of 4 Bitcoins by 28 October.
