Japanese agency to help tackle e-waste in Thailand

Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese New Energy Development Organisation and Industrial Technology (NEDO) to jointly implement a demonstration project for an energy-saving resource circulation system to utilise electronic and electrical equipment waste (WEEE) in Thailand.

The aim of the project is to facilitate the disposal of WEEE in Thailand through a consistent recycling system integrated with Japan’s advanced technologies. The waste that cannot be managed in Thailand will be transported to and recycled in Japan, ‘thereby establishing an international resource circulation model among Asian nations in the future.’
