ITU releases study on broadband and connectivity in rural and remote areas

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has released a study entitled ‘Broadband development and connectivity solutions for rural and remote areas’ where it explores some of the challenges to rural and remote connectivity. The document highlights the trends in  telecommunications and ICT infrastructure such as the growing demand for submarine cables and the integration of these very cables and terrestrial backhaul networks. The study also provides recommendations for policy-makers and regulators on how to address connectivity issues in isolated places.
