Internet access remains spotty in Belarus as post-election protests continue

According to a news report, the disruption of Internet access and censoring of online content is still raging in Belarus amid ongoing mass protests. Post-election protests have already entered the fourth week with protestors maintaining their stance on their demands for a fair presidential election and a call for justice for demonstrators who have been subjected to brutalities by the police during the peaceful protests. The report further notes major interruptions to the Internet during and after the elections which affected many websites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, and WhatsApp. Whereas government authorities have attributed the disruptions to foreign cyber-attacks on the country’s systems, experts have expressed the view that it is a deliberate approach by the government to limit the voice of protestors against the government.
