India’s department of Drinking Water & Sanitation launches an online portal that will enable users to get information about their drinking water quality. The portal titled, The Water Quality Information Management System’ (WQMIS) will be based on the framework created by ICMR’s (Indian Council of Medical Research) for its Covid-19 test monitoring online portal. According to the preliminary details, users can get their water tested from a network of nearly 2,000 labs across the country. Any adverse test report will then be automatically flagged up to state and central-level authorities for corrective action at the source of the supply of drinking water.
