Google to start paying for the news in the UK and Argentina
Google announced it has inaugurated its News Showcase product in the UK and Argentina with the purpose of paying for news content for the first time in the country. In the UK, Google has signed an agreement with 120 local publications, including The Financial Times and The Guardian, that will be paid a licensing fee to write news extracts for News Showcase. Google, along with other tech companies, has come under pressure to pay media companies for their content.
