Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies (CDAIT) publishes a paper about IoT for business

The Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies (CDAIT) releases a white paper, aims for business leaders, that deals with IoT and digital transformation. The report offers guidance on how to think about digital business transformation and the full IoT value chain, taking into consideration the benefits, and the risks of IoT. The paper concludes with recommendations on the needed capabilities for ensuring the success of IoT and digital business transformation.. The report outlines three main conclusions: (1) IoT projects should be defined as part of digital business transformation agenda and must be treated as such in order to achieve business success. (2) IoT programs are often perceived as technological solutions; but in fact using IoT goes well beyond devices, networks and applications. The paper proposes to adopt a more holistic approach when using IoT, one which considers technological as well as non-technological aspects. (3) When using IoT business leaders should be aware of the bigger picture – that is of digital societal transformation and the role of IoT in that picture.
