France calls Apple and Google to weaken privacy protection around contact tracing

According to the Guardian, France has become the first country to call publicly for Apple and Google to weaken privacy protections around contact tracing, after acknowledging that its plans would require changes to smartphone operating systems. France is calling Google and Apple to lift the strict limits which they have recently set as part of their collaboration regarding  what data can be sent back to public health authorities. In an interview with Bloomberg News, French Digital Minister Cedric O signaled Apple’s protocols slowed down the deployment of the app supported by the French government.
