Federal Trade Commission and US State governments urge a district court to not dismiss antitrust lawsuits against Facebook

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and several US state governments requested a District Court of Columbia to deny Facebook’s petition to dismiss antitrust lawsuits against the company. The FTC has insisted that Facebook’s move to buy Instagram and WhatsApp seriously undermined competition and required the court to order Facebook to sell both companies. In the lawsuit, plaintiffs originally alleged that Facebook breaches antitrust law by buying smaller and promising competitors.
