Facebook announces new initiatives to connect rural populations
After the Free Basics ban in India, Facebook has announced two new initiatives to improve Internet services in developing countries. The Antenna Radio Integration for Efficiency in Spectrum (ARIES) system aims at enhancing the speed, efficiency and quality of Internet in rural areas, and Terragraph – a 60GHz wireless system – has the goal of connecting those living in dense urban areas.
