European countries lead IPv6 adoption

Akamai’s First Quarter 2017 State of the Internet report shows, among others, that European countries lead when it comes to the adoption of Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6), with 6 spots in the top 10 countries in terms of IPv6 adoption (Belgium, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, and the UK). The other 4 countries in the top are the USA, Trinidad and Tobago, India, and Brazil. When it comes to global connection speeds, the report also shows that the global average connection speed was 7.2 Mbps (an increase of 15% year over year) in the first quarter of 2017, and that global average peak connection speed increased 28% year over year to 44.6 Mbps in the first quarter of 2017.
