ERC awards £10 million to design intelligent urban drinking water system

The European Research Council (ERC) rewarded a group of four scientists £10 million to create smart urban drinking water systems. The research aims to develop a new theoretical framework for the allocation and development decisions on drinking water infrastructure systems to become socially equitable, economically efficient, environmentally resilient, and follow the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development. The project will use methodologies from water science, systems and control theory, economics, decision science, and machine learning.
