Cisco report: businesses lack confidence in their ability to defend against cyber-attacks

In its Annual Security Report (downloadable from here), Cisco said that a large percentage of the surveyed companies (46%) lack confidence in their ability to defend themselves against a cyber-attack. This is mainly due to the fact that ‘cybercriminals have refined their back-end infrastructures to carry out attacks in ways that increase efficiency and profits’. With regards to the techniques used in cyber-attacks, the report makes reference to malicious browser extensions and well-known botnets as the ones affecting most organisations. Adobe Flash vulnerabilities are also mentioned as continuing to be popular with cybercriminals.
