Canada announces investment in quantum computing company

Canada’ Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry has announced a CAD$40 million contribution to a project run by tech company D-Wave Systems Inc. with the goal to develop quantum computer hardware and software systems. Within the project, the company will develop a new and more powerful quantum processor and provide additional advancements for its quantum computers. D-Wave Systems is also expected to be able to bring its next-generation quantum system to the market, thus improving productivity, innovation, and analytical capabilities across Canada’s economy. The government of Canada considers quantum computing a strategic opportunity and is actively supporting the sector to ensure that the country remains at the forefront of quantum technology development.
