BT supports online education of UK’s disadvantaged students

According to a press release, BT has partnered with the UK government’s Department for Education (DfE) to provide Internet access to support online learning for students in need. Under the partnership, BT will provide in-need families with free Internet access for six months. Beneficiary families will use the ‘BT Wi-Fi’ voucher code system to gain access to what is considered the UK’s largest wi-fi network, made up of some 5.5 million hotspots across the country. The scheme, which was launched on 16 June 2020, allows children to use three devices at a time to access the Internet for a period of six months.
