British PM Boris Johnson addresses IoT and AI privacy problems

In his address at the 74th UN General Assembly (UNGA), the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson mentioned digital authoritarianism, while referring to the growing use of Internet of things (IoT) devices and artificial intelligence (AI). He argued that, ‘Internet of things could be useful, but could also be used to keep every citizen under round-the-clock surveillance’. Johnson also emphasised the role of the UK in ensuring new technologies will be created and designed while protecting people’s liberties as well as their safety.
