Brazilian representative indicates decree to establish data protection authority is ready for publication

According to the National Law Review, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of Brazil, Jorge Antônio de Oliveira Francisco, has announced that the administrative decree to create the new Brazilian data protection authority (the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados, or “ANPD”) is finalized and will be soon published, after final technical adjustments are made. This announcement comes as the Brazilian Congress is due to vote on provisional measures, which will delay the applicability of the new Brazilian data protection law.
