Article assesses requirements of new executive regulations to 2019 Saudi e-Commerce law

E-commerce retailers and online marketplaces selling goods to consumers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been called upon in an article to take note of the impact of the recently published Executive Regulations to the Saudi E-Commerce Law 2019. The new regulations which have an ultimate aim of protecting consumers further, provide details of what businesses are obliged to do to ensure proper compliance. The key requirements of the regulations as summarised by article include:

  1. E-commerce stores, among others, must put in place measures to protect consumer personal data and help secure their privacy.
  2. Intermediary platforms, acting as the link between service providers and customers must clearly publish terms and conditions of use as well as methods of storing customer personal data and any restrictions to its use.
