Apple and Google exclude Wimkin social media from online store due to threats of violence

Apple and Google removed the Wimkin social media app from their app stores after the platform failed to moderate content considered violent. Wimkin describes itself as an ‘uncensored’ platform that supports freedom of speech entirely. Wimkin has been used to threaten violent protests during the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden. In particular, Apple took down Wimkin after the platform failed to moderate a series of posts in which right-wing extremists started organising a ‘million militia march’ for the day of inauguration.
