Amazon will start paying damages for dangerous goods

Amazon will start paying compensation to customers who are affected by dangerous products sold by independent sellers in its store. From the beginning of September, Amazon said it would compensate for personal injury or property damage on claims up to U$1.000. More than half of the products sold on Amazon come via third-party sellers, and are not vetted before being sold. The company has faced mounting pressure over safety of goods advertised on its platform, such as a lawsuit by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission aimed at forcing Amazon to recall hundreds of thousands of products.
