Amazon delivery drivers forced into biometric system

Delivery drivers for e-commerce giant Amazon are now required to sign a biometric consent form or lose their employment. The form requires drivers to consent to facial recognition and other biometric data collection within the trucks they drive. Parts of the form, reproduced by vice, describe the technology to include tracking of “ vehicle location and movement, including miles driven, speed, acceleration, braking, turns, and following distance”. The technology is part of an AI initiative which Amazon says is meant to improve safety and overall driver experience. However, Amazon drivers, who number over 75,000 in the US, view it as a violation of privacy and overreach in surveillance.
