RSF condemns arrest of Algerian columnist over satirical article on Al Madar website

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) have condemned the disproportionate actions taken against Saad Bouakba, a well-known Algerian columnist who spent 48 hours in police custody before being released on 6 February under legal control. He was in custody due to a satirical article titled ‘Far from politics’ that was published on the Al Madar website and portrayed the government’s relations with its population, which was found offensive.
