Report into the gig economy finds women are earning 37% less than men

The gig economy widens gender divisions through the gender wage disparity and unfair treatment of women.

According to a recent report by Queensland University of Technology, women in gig economy roles in Australia earn between 10% and 37% less than men. They are also at higher risk of sexual assault in jobs like rideshare driving.

To address gender-related issues in gig economy, the Government of Victoria issued 20 recommendations, one of which was about fair pay and conditions.
