The Model Law reflects global consensus on major aspects of international arbitration practice. It has been accepted by states with different legal and economic systems, and it harmonized the common law and civil law concepts of arbitration. The Model law is not legally binding, its purpose is to assist states in reforming and modernizing their laws on arbitral procedure.
