Tackling crime in our digital age: Establishing a European cybercrime centre

Policy Reports

The communication from the European Commission to the Council and the European Parliament proposes setting up a European Cybercrime Centre. It would focus on cybercrimes committed by organised crime groups, cybercrimes which cause serious harm to their victims, and cybercrimes (including cyber-attacks) affecting critical infrastructure and information systems in the EU. The proposed centre would have four functions. It would: serve as the European cybercrime information focal point; pool European cybercrime expertise to support member states in capacity building; provide support to member states’ cybercrime investigations; and become the collective voice of European cybercrime investigators.
