In the context of a Fourth Industrial Revolution, indicated by the transformative potential of technology and rise of diverse digital actors, the role of ICT and broadband internet is rapidly rising. Therefore, the document also presents the main challenges of broadband for sustainable development, most notably the digital divide. The report further evaluates growth in broadband and ends with recommendations for boosting broadband. Some of the recommendations are promoting training and measures to stimulate demand, strengthening digital skills and literacy, and reducing taxes and import duties on Telecom/ICT equipment and services.
