Promoting the use of information and Communication technologies to bridge the financial inclusion gap (Resolution 89)

ITU Resolution 89 looks at how the use of information and communications technologies could be promoted to bridge the financial inclusion gap. Among other things, it calls for the the establishment of a platform for peer learning, dialogue and experience-sharing in digital financial services among countries and regions, regulators from telecommunication and financial services sectors, industry experts and international and regional organizations. Moreover, it invites ITU member states to develop and implement national strategies to address financial inclusion as a matter of priority and to leverage ICTs to bring financial services to the unbanked.
