Empowering children in the new information and communications environment (REC(2006)12)

The Recommendation on empowering children in the new information and communications environment aims to ensure that children’s dignity and fundamental rights are respected on the Internet. Member States are invited to develop a coherent information literacy and training strategy focused on empowering children and their educators in order for them to make the best use of ICT services and technologies. It also encourages the private sector, civil society actors and the media to engage in similar efforts.
