The OECD Council recommendation no. OECD/LEGAL/0344 on cross-border co-operation in the enforcement of laws against spam

Principles and Recommendations

The recommendation, adopted by the OECD Council on 13 April 2006, was developed in view of the potential for economic and social harm caused by spam. States adhering to the resolution are recommended to adopt an effective domestic framework consisting of laws, spam enforcement authorities to co-ordinate or conduct investigations or pursue enforcement of such laws, and practices for the enforcement of laws connected with Spam. As enforcing legislation against spam is best done through cross-border co-operation, states are also called upon to establish a framework for spam enforcement authorities to cooperate with foreign spam enforcement authorities as well as private sector entities.
