Cyber Defence Pledge

Resolutions and Declarations

NATO made a Cyber Defence Pledge recognising the severity of the cyber threat landscape and the need to protect the NATO member states ‘in cyberspace as in the air, on the land and at sea’. The alliance plans ‘to strengthen and enhance cyber defences of national networks and infrastructures, as a matter of priority.’ To this end, it pledges to develop capabilities, allocate adequate resources, reinforce multistakeholder interaction, improve the understanding of threats, enhance skills and awareness, foster cyber education, and expedite the implementation of cyber defence commitments. The pledge furthermore tasks an annual assessment and will review progress at their next summit.
