In Ker-Optika bt v ÀNTSZ Dél-dunántúli Regionális Intézete the Court of Justice of the European Union was asked to clarify the scope of the Directive 2000/31/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council relative to e-commerce and whether the ban on the sale of contact lenses online is compatible with the free movement of goods in the EU. The EJEU ruled that member states cannot ban the sale of contact lenses via the Internet.
