Internet governance – Council of Europe strategy 2016 – 2019

The Council of Europe plays a pivotal role in ensuring that human rights that apply offline also apply online. Thus the overall aim of the Strategy is to ensure that public policy for the Internet is human-centered, that it respects human rights online, values of democracy and the rule of law. The strategy recognises many challenges to the Internet and provides governments and other stakeholders with means to address them.
