The global e-waste monitor 2017

Policy Reports

The 2017 Global E-waste Monitor is a joint effort of the United Nations University (UNU), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) to raise awareness of the global e-waste problem.

The document examines environmental and health risk that the inappropriate management of e-waste can pose. According to the report, only 20% of e-waste was properly recycled by 2016.

The document also addresses e-waste legislation throughout the globe as well as status and trends at both global and regional levels. It highlights the lack of efforts to implement and enforce e-waste policies, as well as the lack of reliable e-waste data at the country level.
