EU human rights guidelines on freedom of expression online and offline

The guidelines state the importance of the freedom of expression offline and online and as such aim tp promote the previously mentioned freedom internationally. The document acknowledges that journalists but also the bloggers, social media activists and human rights defenders are often put at a specific risk of intimidation and violence. It underscores that efforts to prevent impunity against these journalist must be associated with the protection or defense of the human rights defenders.
