Resolutions and Declarations

The Deauville Declaration addresses a number of issues such as global economy, security, nuclear safety, climate change, development as well as the Internet. With regard to the Internet, the states call on everyone to use the Internet as a tool to advance human rights and democratic participation throughout the world.

The protection of intellectual property, in particular copyright, trademarks, trade secrets and patents, was particularly emphasised. The states recognised the need to have national laws and frameworks for improved enforcement. and renewed their commitment to ensuring adequate action against infringements of intellectual property rights in the digital arena.
