Conventions and Treaties

The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal was adopted in 1989 by the Conference of Plenipotentiaries in Basel, Switzerland, to tackle the problem of toxic waste in developing countries imported from abroad. Aimed at protecting human health and environment from the adverse effects of hazardous wastes, the Convention also addresses the problem of e-waste.
