Agreement between the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and Canada

Conventions and Treaties

Chapter 19 of the agreement is dedicated to digital trade. The chapter tackles various aspects of digital trade including customs duties, non-discriminatory treatment of digital products, electronic authentication and electronic signatures, as well as online consumer protection. Amongst other things, the chapter acknowledges the global nature of digital trade and therefore calls for cooperation between the contracting parties but also tackles the issue of cybersecurity that may disrupt/hinder digital trade.
